Community Music School (CMS) is a non-profit organization which provides quality music education to all interested students, regardless of their age, ability, background, or financial circumstances. CMS employs over 30 professional musicians who provide high-quality private and group instruction to students of all ages and in nearly every instrument and voice, as well as extensive, tuition-free outreach programs that bring music to students in under-served, high-poverty schools.

Part-Time Music Teacher - any instrument!
 
Position Type: Part time, employee

Location: Various (Allentown, Bethlehem, Center Valley, West Allentown, Reading)
 
Salary Level: Varies by experience
 
Approximate Hours Per Week: As needed
 
Work Authorization: US Citizen, Permanent Resident

Proficiency in given instrument(s), ability to work flexibly and independently with a diverse student base

Degree Level: Bachelor's degree in music education, music performance, or related field

Per Diem Evening Administrative Associate/Receptionist

Allentown (Miller Symphony Hall) Location

This per diem afternoon/evening position requires multitasking; effective customer service skills; accurate data entry and computer skills; professional communications skills; strong administrative skills; an outgoing and positive demeanor; self-motivation and attention to detail; good listening skills; ability to maintain composure in case of emergency; and a passion for the mission of CMS: to successfully provide the inspiration and opportunity for anyone in our diverse community to achieve excellence in music education and appreciate the transformative power of music.

This is a per diem afternoon/evening front desk/receptionist/administrative back up position, approximately 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the main location of Community Music School in Miller Symphony Hall, 23 N. 6th Street, Allentown, PA 18101. Employee parking is located in the Transportation Center Parking Deck at 6th and Linden Streets. The employee would be notified of a scheduled front desk shift with as much notice as possible, but in some cases, such as when the regular employee calls in sick, a minimum of 2 hours’ notice may be given.

The specific job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Greet and check in/out students and their families when they arrive for lessons; monitor student accounts for timely payment/attendance and process customer payments by cash, check, or credit card; answer phones and email communications.
  • Maintain files and records to ensure all student and financial records are current and accurate. This includes the annual registration forms and any financial aid forms and related documents, as well as student and teacher schedules.
  • Efficiently communicate schedule changes in writing and over the phone with students and faculty members.
  • Ensure compliance with CMS administrative policies and procedures.
  • Secure building at the close of business each day.
  • In case of emergency, lead evacuation of building, account for all students, and notify proper authorities.

Salary Level: $12 - $14 per hour depending on experience
